No longer running but love to walk...

WOW Women Love to Walk - With Strollers, Dogs, or Walking Sticks!

Hi Coach Stephanie - I saw your post to Yanicke and I'm curious about your workouts. I am no longer running, but love to walk. Am not training for marathons.

My questions:

  • Can I bring my 18 month old toddler with me in a stroller (I'm a solo mom)?
  • What do your workouts consist of? I saw the details of an intermediate workout: "10 min warm-up, 6 X 800 hard with 1:30 RI, 10 min. cool-down, stretch"- what does that mean for someone who is walking?
  • Do you have regular workouts that are nearby?

  • I see you're at the Berkeley Marina - Thank you! K. in Berkeley

    1. Thank you for your questions. Usually if one person asks a question, at least 10 others had it and didn't ask!

On our weekend workouts you can almost always bring a stroller. I ask that you remain at the back of the pack, at the start, with your stroller. Once the group gets moving you can easily fit in whatever your pace allows.

We are generally on bike paths so, please stay to the right and be aware of others, coming from behind and moving faster than you!

The Intermediate workout you described is from our track workouts during the week. When we are on the track you already know that strollers and dogs don't work with running laps! Track is only during the weekdays.

If you have more questions, please contact me, Coach Stephanie at coachstephanie@gowowteam.com Otherwise, please come out and give us a try.

We love walkers who want to walk for fitness and can move steadily for 60 minutes(minimum). Pace is not an issue. The 60 minute thing is not a requirement. It is more of a fitness level and commitment that will allow you to have fun with our group and not feel left behind.

      To Fitness!
