Meet in the parking lot near the bathrooms

Parking:

1.) Long term parking, over 2 hrs, $6.00 (exact change needed.) Bring $1 bills for the machine.

2.) Metered parking, 2 hrs or less, $1.00 per hour. Need quarters.

There is street parking, in the residential areas outside of the park, that is free but entails walking uphill for 10 – 15 minutes to get to the trailhead.

Consider carpooling to save the environment and save some money, too!

Routes: You have choices. All routes have hills. Bring water, and look over the routes ahead of time. There are trail options but generally we workout on the paved Lakeside Trail. The other trails are an option for more experienced runners.

Lakeside Trail (2.7 miles) – This is a paved trail that runs along the edge of the lake. This course has rolling hills. http://www.usatf.org/routes/view.asp?rID=347589

Note: The Lakeside Trail has mile markers, offers a rolling course on a paved trail, and is a loop. Novice runners, run/walkers, or walkers are encouraged to do the Lakeside Trail two or three times.

Upper Rim Trail (4.7 miles) – This is a dirt trail that circles the lake along the ridge of the surrounding hills. This is a challenging course due to the elevation changes. http://www.usatf.org/routes/view.asp?rID=347710

The upper and lower trails do crossover at the reservoir so runners could do any combination they like.

Intermediate and advanced runners or walkers have the option of doing the Upper Rim Trail once or twice or combining it with the Lakeside Trail.

Note:The Upper Rim Trail is an all dirt trail, and has some steep sections to get to the ridge with an undulating, uneven dirt surface along a fire trail. The views can be spectacular and it is well worth the effort, but this trail is not for newbies. Bring your own water and be prepared with a snack and layers. This is a trail run.

Both of these courses are challenging. Go for it!
